Color is back and bold from the lids to your attire. It is time to play with your beauty and channel your inner rock star! As I usually keep my beauty routine minimal during the week, I’ve experimented with pigmented liquid color thanks to Nyx Cosmetics Vinyl Collection available at Ulta Beauty.
Inspired by the runway, color is saturated on the lids taking a cue from the 80s inner punk. Prada had purple and green eyes, neon swipes at Christian Dior and liquid everything at Helmut Lang. Note the return of do whatever you want as traditional rules for a smoky eye no longer apply. Nyx celebrates color by releasing the idea that “eyeliners should be black” and “lipsticks are red or pink.” Mauve lips and green eyes anyone?
Using an angled brush and a good primer I was able to create a glazed look highlighting my eyes. The shadow comes in a mini-pot and my favorite Toxic (green) looks magical against dark skin. Keeping the rest of my face minimal, I balanced my lips using the color “bombshell.”
Of course, in the spirit of realism, I suggest you save the green lips and frosted liner for the evening. I do suggest playing with a swipe of purple liner under the eyes to make a bold statement. Balancing risk and class is the spice of life! Shop my edit below and own your power.
