A few weeks ago, I was head stylist for A Place Called Home’s Cinderella Prom Day, helping local teens find dresses for prom and graduation.

Each school bus brought high school seniors to select a prom dresses, shoes and accessories. I was thankful enough to welcome every group that arrived with a mini-body confidence keynote to encourage them to embrace and celebrate their bodies, while keeping in mind the control they have over their personal brand.

It was a beautiful way to give back to the local Los Angeles community and connect with my network. The luxury retailer 11 Honore’ was so gracious to donate designer plus-sized gowns and volunteer with me too! I truly believe if you are not sharing your talents with those in need you are wasting your gifts. I find so much joy and fulfillment by styling the girls. Being able to connect one-on-one and ask them how they want to feel or address their body issues is truly my dharma.
I encourage all of you to get involved in your community in some way, even if it’s small. You can always offer donations online, donate old clothing and home goods to Downtown Women’s Center, Goodwill, or participate in the run/walks throughout the year.

Want to do more? Consider joining Oui Collective, for creative and entrepreneurs looking to give back and network. I’ll be hosting monthly service and empowerment projects.
