5 WAYS TO UPDATE YOUR 9-5 WARDROBE

May 31, 2017

I am counting the days until summer! The rise in temperatures definitely call for an outfit update in the office. The easiest way to update an outfit is through accessories, patterns, and volume. This season’s breakout hit items are of-the-moment updates on true classics. Some of my favorite looks are old school, but I’m styling them with plenty of edge: think gingham, printed scarves, mirrored lenses, and more. There are so many trends going on in accessories this spring and summer—and most of them are incredibly affordable. Read about my picks for instant outfit updates for the season, and shop all your seasonal needs to update your workplace wardrobe like a boss!

Gingham

Gingham is back with an edgy vengeance. I love styling it with a pop of unexpected color, like pink heels. If you work in more of conservative office, then tone down your look with a blazer and more monotone colors.

Scarves and bandanas

My Haitian-French culture is making waves with on-trend scarves. I’ve been wearing scarves for years, so I say, “C’est si bonne!” There are so many ways to rock a scarf, but I love tying it around my neck with a bow in front. A silk scarf levels up any outfit with a bit of elegance. You don’t have to break the bank either. I discovered some of my favorite scarves in a vintage bin in Biarritz!

Color block heel

Spruce up your basic corporate attire with a pop of color. A bright block heel will do the trick. You can’t go wrong with loafer or mules either. This low heel is great to take you from commuting to happy hour.

Wide leg trousers

They’ve been around forever (I’ll never stop staring at Kathryn Hepburn’s). And high-waist flares have earned the right to keep coming back: In stripes, silk or chambray, they make your legs look longer. All they ask is to be worn with a simple t-shirt or a button down. Go the extra mile with a silk scarf. Instachic!

Wrap Belts

Give yourself a waist and praise the fashion gods! These belts are a game changer as they are a fun, playful addition to the corporate midi-dress.

Bonus: Bold sunglasses

Statement shades instantly elevate an outfit—ask any street-style star at fashion week. Colored mirrored lenses, lucite frames, heritage shapes—right now anything goes for the accessory that goes with everything. Shop my favorite style from Gentle Monster.

Great tips! One of my biggest challenge when I was working my corporate job was to find professional yet comfortable summer outfits that would work both when outside in the heat and humidity as well as the air conditioning in the office. Cute & Stylish selections.

I know what you mean. I think you really have to rely on colors and layers. I should do a section just on jacket and blazers! Thanks for visiting! Glad you like!

I LOOOOVE a wrap belt. I’m so glad they’re back. I’m short and curvy so I’m not too sure about the wide leg pants. But it might give it a go. Love your style!

I would say go for a cropped pair of wide leg with a paper bag waist to accent to waist. We don’t want to you get lost! Thanks for the compliment!

love the look!
